Ever heard of a group called Societa Operaia Italo-Svizzera di St. Helena? We toured special plots on the annual cemetery discovery walk and this was one of them.
They were founded early on in SH and disbanded in 1963. President was Julius Caiocca, Jr. We have most of their records and all were written in Italian. A local Italian will translate for us.
Salmina & Borla building on Spring Street in St. Helena. It was also known as the William Tell Hotel. Tony Quinn’s ancestors (see blog post) were the Salmina partners.
