The Iceman. A success story in tracing our roots in Ticino

From Pete and Dot Maroni, Britain

We have been able to trace our very much extended family in Dongio, Aquarossa in Ticino at last.

We contacted SGSI and Lorenzo Franscioni who was able to advise me that the Maroni name was found in Dongio in the 1800’s. I found a family in the Swiss phone book and contacted them. They passed my request to a gentleman who is the archivist for the parish and he e-mailed a totally awesome family tree showing our link to the Maroni families from the 1700’s.

We also found a link to the Gatti family, who also came from Dongio. The Alien entry listed our g.grandfather came to England on the Albion from Boulogne with ‘G Gatti’ and was listed as his ‘son’, this was at the age of 5. As his mother was Lucia nee Gatti we assume he was his uncle.

All I have to do now!! Collect as much information of our English branch and return the compliment.
