by John Notary, Australia
My family name is Notari. My grandfather Faustino Notari left Malvaglia in the 1880s and became a trainee chef under Escoffier at the Savoy Hotel, London. In the 90s he joined Pagani’s restaurant in Great Portland ST. London. The Meschini family were mananging the restaurant and kept the famous “Artist’s Room” for up and coming creative souls. (I still have copy of this book) My uncle William Notari worked in the restaurant and was very active with the Unione Ticinese where many functions were held. This was all destroyed in the Blitz.
I am not in the catering field and migrated to Australia in 1956.
I’m the current president of the Unione Ticinese in London and was very interested in what you wrote about your family and particularly about your uncle Willie Notari. Do you know what happened to his papers and particularly those relating to his involvement with the Unione Ticinese?
Best wishes
